Manawa Ora
Manawa Ora is the largest provider of Rongoā Māori in the Wellington region and one of the largest, most recognised brands
of rongoā Māori in the country, led by Jolie Davis (Ngāti Kurī, Te Rarawa).
Mirimiri and romiromi is traditional Māori bodywork and healing that rebalances, restores function and releases deeply-held tension in the body.
Techniques used include applying pressure and bodyweight to muscles, spine and joints to release tension and stress.
This is cultural practice – however a common misconception is that mirimiri is merely massage.
Māori bodywork originates from the centuries old wananga lore of traditional healing. It utilises a holistic approach to restoring wellness to the mind, body, spirit and emotional being.
The build-up of tension in the body is the result of an accumulation of the stress and trauma we experience throughout our lives.
Left untreated, it can lead to pain, illness or dysfunction on a physical, emotional, mental or spiritual level.
Mirimiri healing helps reverse these effects by bringing holistic balance back to the person.
Our team works comfortably in an open setting; you will be worked alongside others.
We also work comfortably through clothing. We also use karakia (prayer) and waiata (song) during the process.
At this conference we will be providing introductory sessions as for many people this will be a first-time experience.
Manawa Ora is ACC registered provider. For more information please visit the website: www.manawaora.org
