About The Presenter
- Liz has a background in social work, social policy and strategic planning, supervision, and training. She has worked in faith-based social services and state health and social welfare sector, with a focus on social impacts and services for families, children, and individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges.
- More recently, Liz worked with the NZ Medical Council, overseeing the treatment, rehabilitation, and safe practice of medical practitioners dealing with mental health and addiction issues.
- With a long-standing commitment to supporting families and children's rights, Liz's advocacy for victims of sexual abuse began in the 1970s and 80s within social services. Following an approach from victims of sexual abuse in church institutions in 2017, she established the 'Network of Survivors of Abuse in Faith based Institutions and their Supporters' to have the survivors included in the scope of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care.
